Drywall & plaster pro's and con's

Pros and Cons of Drywall and Plaster

There are several key differences between drywall and plaster that should be considered before choosing a material for your project. Perhaps the most important distinction is that plaster is significantly more durable than drywall. Plaster can last for hundreds of years, while drywall will start to break down after just a few decades. Plaster is also much more resistant to fire, moisture, and impact damage than drywall.

On the other hand, drywall is much easier to install than plaster and is therefore a better choice for do-it-yourself projects. Drywall is also lighter than plaster, making it easier to transport and work with. And because it doesn't require as much skilled labor to install, drywall is usually less expensive than plaster.

So which material is right for your project? If you're looking for durability and fire resistance, plaster is the way to go. But if you need a cheaper, easier-to-install option, drywall is probably your best bet.
