Summer home maintenance checklist.
Summer is the perfect time to catch up on all of those home maintenance tasks you've been putting off. Use this checklist to make sure you don't miss anything important.
1. Inspect your roof and gutters. Look for any missing or damaged shingles, and make sure your gutters are clean and free of debris.
2. Check your windows and doors. Make sure they're properly sealed and caulked, and that the weather stripping is in good condition.
3. Test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, and change the batteries if necessary.
4. Clean out your air conditioner filter, and have a professional inspect your unit to make sure it's in good working order.
5. Drain and clean your water heater, and check the pressure relief valve to make sure it's working properly.
6. Trim any trees or shrubs that are close to your house, and remove any dead branches.
7. Inspect your home's exterior for any cracks or damage, and repair as necessary.
