  • It depends on the type of stone. For granite, a sealant should be applied every few years to protect it from staining and etching. For marble, a sealant should be applied at least once a year, and more often if the floor is heavily trafficked. If the floor becomes stained or etched, it can usually be cleaned with a mild detergent and water solution, but always test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area first. NEVER use an acidic cleaner on marble or granite as it will damage the surface of the stone.
