  • There are 4 main types of tennis court playing surfaces: clay, hard, grass, and carpet. Clay courts are considered the most difficult to play on because they offer the most amount of resistance and bounce. Grass courts offer the quickest bounce and are considered the easiest to play on. Hard courts are in between clay and grass courts in terms of difficulty and Carpet courts have the least amount of bounce.
