  • Yes, you can install porcelain tile over ceramic tile. However, the two tiles are not exactly the same, so there are some things you need to take into consideration.Porcelain tile is harder than ceramic tile, so if your ceramic tile is already in good condition and isn't loose or cracked, then you should be fine to use porcelain tile. However, if your ceramic tile is in bad condition or needs to be replaced, it's probably a better idea to replace it with porcelain tile instead of trying to install the new porcelain over the old ceramic. There are also a few other things you need to keep in mind when installing porcelain tile over ceramic tile.

Yes. It is possible to install porcelain tile over ceramic tile, but the two substrates must be properly prepared before installation. First, the ceramic tile must be cleaned and free of any debris or dust. Second, the surface of the ceramic tile must be completely smooth so that there is no risk of the porcelain tiles cracking or separating from the substrate during installation. Finally, a thin layer of mortar (thinner than what would normally be used for a full installation) must be applied to the surface of the ceramic tile to create a smooth, even surface on which to install the porcelain tiles.
