Is it cheaper to repair or replace a refrigerator?

I am having second thoughts on whether or not to replace the refrigerator or repair it. Which of the two is cheaper?

  • It depends on the refrigerator. If the refrigerator is still under warranty, it would be cheaper to repair it. If the refrigerator is older and not under warranty, it would be cheaper to replace it.

It depends. If the repair costs are less than half of the price of a new refrigerator, it's usually cheaper to repair the old one. But if the repair would cost more than half of what a new refrigerator would cost, it's usually cheaper to buy a new one.
