A renovation is a term used to describe when a property is being restored back to its original condition. It can also refer to the process of repairing or upgrading something. Some things which come under renovation are changing the flooring, repainting the walls, fixing the plumbing and electricity, and replacing old furniture with new ones.

Some common renovations which homeowners may choose to undertake include: painting and decorating; replacing flooring; installing new kitchen units or bathroom fittings; erecting new walls or partitions; and converting living spaces into bedrooms or vice versa. Generally speaking, any change which is made to a property in order to improve its appearance or function can be classed as a renovation.
