  • There are a few ways to fix roll up hurricane shutters. One way is to lubricate the tracks with a silicone spray. If the shutter gets stuck, you can try using a butter knife or screwdriver to pry it open. Another way is to unhook the shutter from the track and take it down so that you can fix whatever is wrong with it. Sometimes the wind will catch the shutter and roll it back up, so you may need to put something heavy on top of it to keep it down.

Some people just use zip ties or baling wire to keep them rolled up. I would not recommend this though because it's only a matter of time before the wind tears through the material. A better solution is to buy some PVC pipe and cut it to the right length so that it fits over the top of each shutter when they're rolled up. Then use some Velcro straps or something similar to fasten the PVC pipe to the shutter frame. This will give your shutters extra strength and will prevent them from being blown away in a storm.
