There are many ways to wire a telephone jack, but the simplest way is to just use one wire. Strip off about 2 inches of insulation from the end of the wire and twist it around the screw on the telephone jack. then tighten the screw. If you want to use two or more wires, you can do that too. Just twist each wire together with a wire nut, and then attach them to the screws on the telephone jack.
There are three primary colors used in phone wiring: red, green, and black. In most cases, the green wire is used for the phone line, and the red and black wires are used for power. To wire a telephone jack, you'll need to connect each of the colored wires to the appropriate terminals on the jack. First, strip about 1/2" of insulation from each wire using a wire stripper. Then use pliers to twist each wire around the appropriate screw terminal on the jack. Tighten the screws securely to hold the wires in place.
